Early in the morning

Early rising is not my thing (just ask my hubby!), but when the effort is made, I so enjoy the beauty of God’s dawning creation….the sunrise, the dew on the ground, the choir of joyful birds.  All fantastically beautiful this last Saturday as we gathered together our wee fishermen-three and headed to the lake with a friend’s boat.  Now before you get this romantic idea about this adventure, may I remind you, we have a one year old.  It is hard work taking a one year old on a floating vessel, much less one that has sides shorter than he.  This is why we haven’t done a “family” fishing trip for the duration of his short life.  I spent the whole trip gripping his vest and holding him in place, much to his chagrin.  At one point, he got so fed up, the fish we getting disturbed by his yells so we took a little break on the beach to give him some room to roam.

Despite three poles in the water for two hours or so, and plenty of chum thrown overboard by the wees, only one fish was caught.  But it was a big one (20″) and snagged on the little princess pole that belongs to our daughter.  Funny how that works.  Our oldest was quite disappointed he didn’t get one.  Maybe next time.

For the beauty of the earth, For the beauty of the skies, For the love which from our birth Over and around us lies, Lord of all, to thee we raise This our grateful hymn of praise.
For the beauty of each hour Of the day and of the night, Hill and vale, and tree and flower, Sun and moon and stars of light, Lord of all, to thee we raise This our grateful hymn of praise.
For the joy of human love, Brother, sister, parent, child, Friends on earth, and friends above, Pleasures pure and undefiled, Lord of all, to thee we raise This our grateful hymn of praise.
For each perfect gift of thine, To our race so freely given, Graces human and divine, Flowers of earth and buds of heaven, Lord of all, to thee we raise This our grateful hymn of praise.
Folliott S. Pierpoint

Psalm 24:1-2   The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.

Psalm 104:24-25   How many are your works, O LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number-living things both large and small.
